In-flight magazine showcases Ajijic

Flying with Aeromexico this month? Be sure to take a look at the November issue of its bilingual in-flight magazine Escala.

Well-known cartoonist Jose Trinidad Camacho, alias “Trino,” takes readers on a tour of his favorite spots in Ajijic, including restaurants La Prensa Francesa, Ajijic Tango, Number Four and La Vita Bella; as well as Barbara’s Bazaar antiques store. Trino, according to the article, recently relocated to Ajijic from Guadalajara.

Meanwhile, Trino’s cartoonist colleague, Jose Ignacio Solorzano (alias “Jis”), reveals his favorite places in Guadalajara, including the eatery La Estacion de Lulio on trendy Avenida Chapultepec; the Cabañas Cultural Institute, famously adorned with the murals of Jose Clemente Orozco; the Laboratorio de Arte Variedades, an art-deco movie theatre recently converted into a cultural center; the Zapopan Museum of Art; and the leafy and tranquil Bosque de los Colomos. In terms of local cuisine, Jis recommends simple fare: torta ahogada followed by a jericalla flan.
