Indigenous color, tradition on Ajijic Plaza

People from 13 indigenous pueblos in the state of Michoacan are coming to Ajijic to share their unique cultural heritage.

“Union of Pueblos” takes place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 14, 15 and 16  on Ajijic’s main plaza.

The Pure’pecha indigenous people will bring with them a panoply of high-quality crafts, traditional dances and delicious gastronomic delights from their region.

This event has been brought to Ajijic with the help of local photographer Xill Fessenden. It’s a wonderful opportunity to pick up exquisite holiday gifts and décor while enjoying regional dances and the traditional cuisine of Michoacan.

Emmanuel Medina, Chapala’s new secretary of Culture, will be on hand Saturday, December 15, 2 p.m. to formally introduce the event  and affix his stamp of approval.

The Pure’pecha indigenous people of Michoacan are delighted to have this opportunity to share their rich traditions of love and giving that are sure to make the season even brighter.
