A blueprint for Ajijic aquatic park

Local contractor Marco Zaragoza is the brain behind an ambitious plan to develop an aquatic sports center at the Ajijic waterfront. He has drawn up a basic blueprint of a complex to house a semi-Olympic swimming pool, a smaller pool for teaching local kids to swim, a ramp for launching rowboats and kayaks, a gymnastics platform and dressing and restroom facilities.

The center would be located in the open beach area between the Ajijic Malecon and the Tecoluta soccer field, on federal land currently occupied by local fishermen. The fishermen are in favor of the project, which would also include a module for teaching and practicing aquaculture.

Officials from the state and municipal sports commissions, Code and Comude, have give an enthusiastic thumbs-up for Zaragoza’s plans which are now in the hands of federal legislators in Mexico City.

Persons interested in taking a look at the blueprints and lending moral support are welcome to visit Zaragoza at his business headquarters, Marcos Castellanos 12 near the San Andres church or contact him at 766-1480, cel. 333-408-8069 and email This email address is being protected from spambots.
