Lakeside chamber convenes powwow on car issues

The lakeside delegation of the National Chamber of Commerce (CONACO) convened a meeting between federal immigration and tax department officials and the local traffic commander to share perspectives on laws and regulations of special concern to the area’s expatriate community.

Gathered on October 23 for the informal luncheon organized by CONACO delegate Yolanda Martinez and local office manager Juan Manuel Rosales were Regional Immigration Director Ricardo Vera Lira and his assistant Doris Michel, Tax Administration Service (SAT) foreign commerce auditing officials Miguel Silva Espinoza de los Monteros and Lino Garcia Lopez, and regional traffic office head Alberto Alvarez Ahumada.

It was the first occasion that these public servants had an opportunity to meet one another and discuss overlapping norms that apply to foreign resident visas, temporary and permanent importation of vehicles from abroad and transit in Jalisco’s boundaries. Their short-term objective is to develop a set of guidelines to help expats grasp their rights and obligations and avoid red-tape pitfalls.
