January fair to highlight volunteer opportunities

Lakeside non-profits will have an opportunity to recruit new volunteers by participating in a fair at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) on Friday, January 10, 2014.

Since it has been several years since LCS has held a volunteer fair, organizers are encouraging participation of all non-profits that need additional volunteers to help fulfill their missions.

The purpose of the fair is to introduce people to the many organizations that are making positive differences in the lives of Mexican students, children with disabilities, abandoned animals, as well as groups supporting the arts and culture.

People who have lived at Lakeside for a few years may be aware of some, but not all of the organizations that are trying to improve the quality of life at Lakeside. However, new people are constantly arriving to live part time or full time on the north shore of Lake Chapala. Many are retired and have time and a desire to do some meaningful service.

There will be no fee for a non-profit to have a space at the fair, which will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Organizations interested in reserving their free space at the LCS Volunteer Fair should contact Barbara Hildt before January 3 to register, or request more information by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
