Chapala crime rate takes sharp dive

The new year is off to a positive start in terms of public security, according to data revealed this week by Rogelio Reyes, chief official at the Chapala Ministerio Publico (MP, district attorney’s office).

In a January 29 interview with the Reporter, Reyes declared that the number of criminal complaints for all cases of robbery filed up to that date showed a 70 percent decline in comparison to January 2013. Home burglaries have dropped by 36 percent compared to the first month of last year, with only three official complaints registered so far at the local MP. He reported that all three cases have been solved, with the culprits apprehended.
