State innovation minister becomes ‘godfather’ of latest generation of Chapala Tech graduates

Jalisco’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Jaime Reyes Robles spent a full morning on campus at Chapala’s Instituto Tecnológico Superior (ITS) Wednesday, February 26 to attend the graduation of 143 Lakeside area students who have completed their professional   studies in the fields of administration, computer systems engineering, electronic engineering, industrial engineering and business management engineering.

The class of 2009-2014 makes up the tenth generation of ITS-Chapala graduates. Administration student Maria del Rosario Ceja Ruiz was hailed as valedictorian for earning the overall top grade point average of 98.98. Others recognized for the best marks in their respective course studies were Laura Cristina Carretero Rivera, 96.33 in business engineering; José Joel Salcedo Quevedo, 95.51 in industrial engineering; Maricela Gaytán Ramos, 95.27 in computer systems engineering; and David Emmanuel Salazar Solís, 93.63 in electronic engineering.

Shortly after his arrival Reyes sat down to pose for a group photo with the cap-and-gown clad grads, taking his place front and center as official godfather of the class. ITS Director Gerardo Pantoja Ramirez then led him on a full tour of the facilities, paussing to inaugurate the school’s Center of Launching and Innovation, its Computer Assisted Design Laboratory (CAD), and the High-Technology Laboratory, which is newly equipped with 19 iMac and Wacom Cintiq  packages for 3-D design.

Just prior to the formal graduation ceremony Reyes and Pantoja joined Chapala artist Miguel Mora for the unveiling of his new mural entitled Cosmic Man encompassing symbols to represent the melding of the race and origins of philosophical and scientific thinking in ancient around the world.
