Pepper spray bandit on the prey

The modus operandi of a break-in reported last week at a home on the west side of Ajijic suggests the reappearance of the infamous pepper-spray bandit who has targeted numerous expat residences over the past several years.

A relative of the home owners who was staying in the property during their absence reported hearing odd noises. Upon investigating she confronted an intruder who blasted her face with pepper spray. The woman fled the premises, taking refuge at a neighbor’s home. The perpetrator managed to elude police that were called to the scene.

The suspect is described as a large man wearing shorts, sports shirt and hiking boots, a baseball cap and bandana to disguise his face, and carrying a backpack presumably used to carry tools and stolen merchandise.
