Chapala police aid in chase of fuel thieves

Chapala police patrols were mobilized on Tuesday, June 9 to provide back-up for state agents reported to be in hot pursuit of a cargo truck used to transport  fuel stolen from Pemex pipelines.

According to Chapala police chief Moises Torres, state police were able to run down the large blue truck disguised as a conventional cargo vehicle that had been detected en route from Valle de Juarez towards Lake Chapala’s south shore. The bed of the truck had been modified to carry a large metal tank for holding gasoline.  

Local officers were put on high alert in case the vehicle detoured in the direction of Chapala area to evade capture.
