Officials to take office October 1

Barring legal actions that might turn around the June 7 election results, Javier Degollado is scheduled to take charge as Chapala’s new chief executive on Thursday, October 1.

In taking office he will bring aboard Oscar España Ramos to serve as Sindico, the municipal government’s attorney, with Martha Maldonado Esqueda, Juan de Dios Garcia Velazco, Airam Arlette Romo Silva, Alberto Alcantar Medeles and Alina Karen Gonzalez Castañeda lined up to take seats as regidores (councilors).

On Sunday, June 14, Jalisco election authorities will announce how the remaining four places on the cabildo (city council) will be filled on a basis of the percentage of votes won by opposing parties.

Local politicos in the know calculate that Moises Anaya and two others topping the MC slate will be allotted three seats, with PAN’s Juan Carlos Pelayo gaining the last slot.
