Election results elsewhere in the lakeshore region

Citizen’s Movement (MC) and Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) candidates dominated the mayoral elections throughout the lakeshore region and most neighboring municipalities.

MC candidate Manuel Haro trounced all his opponents in Jocotepec, capturing 8,281 votes and 44.25 percent of the ballot count to win the race by a huge margin. PRI-PVEM candidate Jesus Palos and PAN contender Felipe Rangel – both of whom are former mayors – ran neck and neck but far behind, garnering 4,794 and 4,728 votes respectively.

In Ixtlahuacan de los Membrillos, PRI candidate Eduardo Cervantes fared better still, pulling in 56.3 percent of the vote. His closest rival was PAN-PRD coalition contender Joel Coronado, with only 3,129 votes.

With the change of administrations on October 1, the PRI will also govern Jamay, La Barca and Tizapan el Alto, while the MC takes charge in Ocotlan, Tuxcueca, and Acatlan de Juarez.
