Chapala cops bust burglary suspects

Three suspects linked to a number of lakeside home and business burglaries were caught red-handed Thursday, July 16, by Chapala police.

Officers out on patrol in Riberas del Pilar spotted the hot-fingered trio in broad daylight as they were loading up stolen goods in their getaway van parked outside a residence on Paseo del Lago.

The Chapala police department and agents from the local Ministerio Publico (district attorney) were already collaborating in the lookout for a gang of thieves presumably involved in perpetrating a series of local break and entry cases. Various suspicious vehicles had been identified through video surveillance images.

Rey David Preciado Villanueva, age 20, Victor Alfonso Castillo, 26, and Jorge Quezada González, 37-all giving home addresses in the Guadalajara metro area-are now behind bars at the regional CENJURE prison to face charges of theft connected with the Riberas del Pilar incident. Investigations are still in progress concerning their probable participation in at least two similar crimes.
