Correction to ‘Mobile Health Van’ story

Due to my misinterpretation of available information, my wording in the third paragraph of “Health Van’s future in Doubt,” an article published in the October 10-16, 2015 issue of the Guadalajara Reporter, is incorrect.

More correctly it should have said, “The center was dealt a massive blow when word was received that funding for the operation of the van was scheduled to end.”

Funds from local and International Rotary Clubs were not diverted toward the construction of the Tepehua Community Center health clinic. Rather, International Rotary grants have been received to help outfit the clinic when construction is completed.

The grass roots group mentioned in the article raised over 40,000 pesos. That is enough to support the women’s mobile health van through the end of 2016. Additional funding has been pledged by a local A.C. for 2017.

I am sorry for any confusion that may have been caused by my misunderstanding.
