Chapala Red Cross third quarter figures show a loss

The final figures for the July through September operating period at Cruz Roja Chapala indicate a significant short fall of income versus expenses, according to Norm Pifer, president of the Cruz Roja Chapala Consejo (board of directors).

“This is the traditional slow period for foreigner (CRIVC) fundraising and financial support of the delegation,” Pifer says. “Unfortunately we have payables as old as 75 days, thus limiting supplier willingness to extend further credit and limiting our ability to maintain full inventory levels.” Replacement of worn equipment and repairs have also been severely impacted during this quarter also, Pifer added. “While we cannot accept drugs by Mexican law, we will always accept donations of unwanted stethoscopes, packaged syringes, braces for any body part and, of course, money.”
