Ixtlahuacán del los Membrillos quince festival showcases signature fruit

As summer harvests peak in the Lake Chapala region, neighboring Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos hosts a three-day celebration showcasing its delectable namesake fruit.

The town’s third annual quince festival revs up Friday, July 28 with an inaugural parade along main thoroughfares, 5 to 7 p.m., followed by an opening ceremony at the fairgrounds set up on the central plaza. Live entertainment rounds out the first evening.

The event continues all day Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m., with diverse sports activities, a gastronomy fair, contests for quince growers and chefs, music and dance shows and loads of family fun.

Mazamitla, the Pueblo Mágico featured as guest community, will stand out with a special exhibition area displaying local products and tourist attractions.
