Local cops held on robbery, murder charges

Three officers serving in the Ixtlahuacán de Membrillos police department were arrested on December 30 as prime suspects in the murder of a federal inspector for the federal Ministry of Communications and Transport (SCT) who was their acquaintance.

The 62-year-old federal agent, assigned to an inspection station in Atequiza, was reported as missing since leaving work at 11 p.m. on December 22. He disappeared along with the 2010 Jeep Cherokee he was driving and the Christmas aguinaldo bonus in his pocket. His body was discovered on December 28 beneath a concrete rainwater drainage bridge located in the vicinity. The burnt remnants of his SCT uniform were found near the Atequiza high school.

The suspects, identified as Carlos Daniel “N”, age 24, Miranda Lizeth “N”, 26, and  César Octavio “N”, 30, were detained by state detectives executing an arrest warrant for charges of felony robbery, criminal homicide and abuse of authority.
