The United States Consulate General in Guadalajara teams up with the Canadian Consulate and Mexican authorities at the Lake Chapala Society for an Expat Info Fair, Tuesday, February 27, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
According to US consulate staff, there will be several booths from the different sections of the consulate staffed by consulate officials answering questions about the services they provide, such as passports, social security benefits, education, programs and culture.
U.S. Authorities
· American Citizen Services (ACS) will provide hours and encourage STEP registration.
· Voting Program Representative will provide information on registering to vote overseas.
· Non-Immigrant Visas (NIV) will answer questions about applying for visas for domestic employees and provide IV handouts.
· Federal Benefits Unit (FBU) will provide information on signing up for social security.
· Regional Security Office (RSO) will answer security questions and show threat levels in different areas of Mexico.
· Public Affairs Section (PAS) will explain U.S. government priorities and programs.
· Foreign Commercial Services (FCS) will explain U.S .programs.
Canadian Authorities
· Canadian Consul will provide information on hours and services.
Mexican Authorities
· Instituto Nacional de Migración (INAMI) will provide hours and information on applying for residency.
· Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (SRE) will provide information on applying for Mexican passports.
· Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT) will provide information on registering vehicles, labor laws for domestic employees and paying taxes.
· Municipal Police will provide security information about living in Mexico and abiding by local laws.
· State Transit Police will provide information on applying for driver’s licenses.
· Instituto Nacional de las Personas Adultas Mayores (INAPAM) will provide information on applying for senior citizen discount cards.
Private entities
· American Legion will provide information on membership and activities.
· Canadian Club will provide information on membership and activities.
· Canadian Legion will provide information on membership and activities.
