Little Chapel by the Lake creates job training partnership

Pastor Ken Armstrong has announced that the Little Chapel by the Lake is beginning a special relationship with the Instituto de Formación para el Trabajo de Estado de Jalisco (IDEFT), to provide career training for local, Spanish-speaking students (ages 15 through adult).

Little Chapel is looking forward to providing job training opportunities to include culinary arts, industrial arts, nursing assistant and others.

Through the efforts of Pastor Earl Schenck, associate pastor of Little Chapel, the church has secured funding and scheduled the first class – a 50-hour introduction to culinary arts which will help students qualify to work in a restaurant kitchen.  Graduates will receive a certificate of completion certified by the State of Jalisco.

The first class, beginning March 5, will include at least 15 students, including eight of the older girls from La Ola Children’s Home, as well as other applicants from the community.

Armstrong also thanked Judy Whitener of Fuego del Cielo and her sister, local restaurateur Janet Huggins, who helped IDEFT design a course to meet the needs of the Lake Chapala community, and who went above and beyond, helping Little Chapel to quickly identify students for the first class.

Says Armstrong: “Pray for these students, as they gain life-changing skills. This is just one more opportunity for the people at Little Chapel to share God’s love in the Lakeside community.”
