Mayor’s brother claims he’s on track to defeat sibling

Suggesting he will catch on to the coattails of Morena presidential candidate Andrés Manuel Obrador, former mayor Gerardo Degollado this week revealed poll numbers showing him in the lead of Chapala’s mayoral race.

Conducted by a team from a Jocotepec educational institution, the survey among 1,200 constituents indicated that Degollado currently holds 27.8 percent of voter preference, a slim 1.2 points ahead of MC candidate Moy Anaya.

The poll puts Alejandro Aguirre (PAN) in third place with 15.9 percent, and incumbent Javier Degollado, the Morena candidate’s brother, trailing at just 10.9 percent.  Other candidates registered at four percent, while 7.1 percent remain undecided.
