Sunrise Rotary reflects on successful year

The Sunrise Rotary Club has enjoyed a productive year under the tenure of President Bill Wilson, who handed the gavel over to Hector España this week.

The club’s achievements include providing three tons of earthquake relief supplies to a pueblo outside Mexico City, health assessments and services to six lakeside villages and the Love In Action orphanage, health supplies to various community hospitals and clinics, two 10,000-liter water storage facilities in Ojo de Agua, drug education for 2,500 students, 40,000 pesos of dental services for needy citizens, 48 new scholarships through the Save a Future With Education program and several humanitarian programs in the town of Mezcala.

España is well known to the community as, among other things, the longtime proprietor of Manix Restaurant and a former Ajijic delegado (town administrator). With his political and community connections and his boundless enthusiasm, Sunrise Rotary is looking forward to even bigger and better things in the coming year.
