As Ajijic gains increasing notoriety as a retirement haven, it should come as no surprise that it has been discovered by the BBC as a perfect setting for an episode of their popular television show “The Real Marigold on Tour.”
The program is an offshoot of “The Real Marigold Hotel,” a travel documentary series that followed a group of elder British celebrities as they explored India in search of an appealing destination to spend their sunset years. The reality show was inspired by the hit movie “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.”
So far, “Marigold on Tour” has tracked the globetrotting British stars to Florida, Japan, China, Cuba, Iceland and Thailand. Last week, four members of the cast popped up at locations on Lake Chapala’s shores, accompanied by the Twofour Productions film crew.
The production company requested that the names of the performers be kept under wraps until details of the newest series are revealed next fall.
