Ajijic is hosting the summer edition of Expo Chapala Artesenal (ECA), running Thursday, August 16, through Sunday, August 19, at the town plaza, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
The tri-annual fair showcases arts and crafts produced by lakeside area artisans offering direct sales to the public. The array of merchandise up for grabs at enticing prices ranges from hand-loomed textiles, original clothing designs and fashion accessories to ceramic pieces and other decorative items for the home and garden.
Gastronomic goodies include wines made from locally grown berries. Participating as guest exhibitors are members of a Guadalajara women’s cooperative who turn out dehydrated fruits, fresh baked breads and other homemade taste treats. Free of charge, hands-on craft workshops, open to children and adults, are also on the ECA program.
