The collection of 46 works of art acquired over the past three years by Chapala’s Centro Cultural Antigua Presidencia (CCAP) has been registered in a catalog that was unveiled Wednesday, August 22 by the municipality’s Culture Director Sergio Unzueta and Cristina Flores, the center’s administrator.
The new acquisitions include 22 paintings, 12 photographs and a dozen other pieces of varied media donated by artists who participated in CCAP exhibits during the current municipal administration. More than half of the gifted works are creations by lakeside area artists, with the remainder contributed by guest exhibitors from elsewhere in Mexico and abroad.
Selected works will be put on display for CCAP’s final exhibit before the change of government. The opening is set for Friday, September 21, 7 p.m., in the Miguel Miramontes Gallery, located on the second story of the former town hall building, on Avenida Madero at Hidalgo.
The catalog contains a separate identification sheet for each item specifying its title, author type, technique, dimensions, subject matter and other characteristics. Reception of each item was documented with official paperwork provided to the donor and copied for the city government’s archives.
Unzueta explained that the registration procedures will assist city hall in its task of creating a full inventory of the municipality’s artistic patrimony
