Heavy rains provoked a landslide that struck Sunday, September 23 near the first waterfall located on Ajijic’s Tepalo hiking trail.
The series of three cascades along the route have been gushing as precipitation picked up over the past week.
Flooded streets and falling rocks were also reported Thursday at various points in Chapala. Local Civil Protection authorities warn residents to be on the alert for natural disasters that may occur at vulnerable spots in the wake of intense and prolonged storms.
