Uniform project benefits local kids

More than two dozen children enrolled at the Escuela Primaria Cuauhtémoc in San Antonio Tlayacapan have been outfitted with school uniforms and shoes provided by the Sunday Community Group affiliated with Lakeside Presbyterian Church (LCP).

The donated clothing was distributed Wednesday, September 19 at the headquarters of the Niños de San Antonio program which cooperated with the church group to identify youngsters from families of limited means who deserve assistance.

The LPC Uniform Project was launched with the aim of encouraging young people to stay in school rather than drop-out over issues of poverty that may make them feel socially isolated from their peers. Its long term goals include expanding of the scope of grade levels and the number of schools served, as well as a recycled uniform exchange for needy families.
