Ajijic Cares to hold presentation on malecon on World AIDS Day

Compassion and understanding are keys to dealing with any major issue in life.

In that spirit, Ajijic Cares opens the door for many who are directly, or indirectly, impacted by HIV/AIDS. Everyone can be part of that solution.

Approximately 30,000 people in Jalisco live with HIV and only 50 percent are aware that they have the virus.

You can help raise HIV/AIDS awareness and support treatment in Lakeside communities through your direct contribution to Ajijic Cares. All funds raised go to VIHas de Vida, a Guadalajara-based organization that has joined Ajijic Cares’ ongoing efforts to destigmatize HIV/AIDS at Lakeside.

All funds raised are spent at Lakeside, providing free diagnostic testing and counseling, as well as education efforts in public schools to limit the spread of the virus and reduce new infection rates. (See vihasdevida.org for more information.)

Ajijic Cares will hold a brief presentation on World AIDS Day, Saturday, December 1, 5 p.m. at the amphitheater on Ajijic’s malecon. Volunteers will be on hand to accept your cash donation. They will demonstrate the need for ongoing education and provide specific examples of how your generosity benefits this community.
