Tom Thompson and Esther Parada from Ajijic’s waste recycling committee joined Chapala Ecology Director José Jaime on Friday, December 14 as the first load of collected PET plastic was trucked out to Primavera Verde, a Guadalajara company that will convert the material into flower pots and mannequins.
The sale of 770 kilos brought in 4,114 pesos. A second load of opaque polyethylene junk was shipped off to another recycling outfit the following Monday.
