A 78-year-old Canadian man was murdered on February 1 while walking around the El Dorado subdivision in San Antonio Tlayacapan.
The incident occurred just before noon when a lone aggressor fired two shots at the victim near a forested part of Calle Allen W. Lloyd.
Unofficial reports suggest the aggressor fired the first shot from a long distance and the second from close range. The attacker immediately fled the scene based on one witness’ report.
On February 4, in a press release, the Chapala municipal government confirmed the incident and expressed their condolences while asking citizens to remain calm.
In addition to communicating closely with the Canadian Consulate in Guadalajara, local authorities also stated that they have boosted security measures in the area.
So far, the victim’s name hasn’t been released.
