Ribera Mágica magazine debuts

The first edition of Ribera Mágica, a monthly magazine focused on attributes of the Lake Chapala region, was introduced to the public Saturday, February 9 at a reception held in the waterfront garden of Termal Cosalá Hotel and Spa.

pg9aThe project is the brainchild of Francisco Cuevas Corona, a descendant of the founders of the first hot spring spa in San Juan Cosalá, who has a background as a businessman, financial analyst, media reporter and environmental activist. His goal is to promote business and tourism in the entire lakeshore region, highlighting its attractions, history, cuisine and people.

pg9bThe first run of 5,000 print copies of the magazine comprises four main articles complemented by full color images spread over 16 pages. The editorial content features an interview with Jocotepec Mayor José Miguel Gómez, highlighting the municipality’s potential as a tourist destination.

Other topics include the Foco Tonal, a place near Ocotlán noted as a unique point on the planet that channels cosmic energy; a profile of local artist Sergio Cuevas who creates ceramic and glass sculptures; and a write-up on El Jardín de Ninette, one of lakeside´s top gourmet restaurants.   

It also contains a double-page map of the area, plus a spread showing vintage photos of Lake Chapala.

While the content of the first edition appears only in Spanish, Cuevas intends to add English texts in the future.

Ribera Mágica is available to readers free of charge, distributed through local hotels, restaurants and other places of business. The online version may be accessed at riberamagica.com.mx. It is also promoted on Facebook.
