Plans for the rehabilitation of its deteriorated cobblestone surface, two other street improvement projects and the construction of pedestrian crosswalks and ramps at 16 central intersections were announced by Chapala Mayor Moisés Anaya at a May 6 town meeting. He later said that work is scheduled to begin next week.
A percentage of property tax and water service payments collected over the first three months of 2019 has been set aside to repair designated streets in Chapala proper and all five of its satellite communities.
