Exhibit explores Virgin of Zapopan history

A collection of objects and images related to the Virgin of Zapopan is temporarily on display at the Centro Cultural Antigua Presidencia in Chapala.

pg9dThe exhibit is mounted in the facility’s ground-floor gallery in conjunction with the religious icon’s July 14 -16 visit to Chapala.

“De Victorias Coronada” comprises three sections that delve into the early history of the revered miracle-maker, the votive paintings, wardrobe and accessories acquired through subsequent centuries, and a special section devoted to her role as protector for Mexico’s largest lake. This includes vintage photographs and the elegant gown and cape made for her 2009 coronation as Queen of the Lake.

The Centro Cultural Antigua Presidencia is at Avenida Madero at Hidalgo. The exhibit is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and runs through Wednesday, July 17.
