Following a report called in Friday, August 9, at around 3 p.m., Chapala police and paramedics found a man lying face down along the service road near the main entrance to Villa Nova.
He was pronounced dead of an apparent homicide.
The area was cordoned off for several hours until a state forensic team arrived to investigate the scene and retrieve the corpse.
According to local authorities, the victim was a resident of Chapala, approximately 35 to 45 years of age. While autopsy results have yet to be revealed, visible signs on the body indicated that he died from a gunshot wound to the back of the head.
