Authorities respond to latest noise complaints

Chapala Reglamentos Director Francisco Torres noted an immediate uptick in noise complaints following the August 29 meeting between local citizens and city hall officials and subsequent publication of cell phone numbers for two of his inspectors.

Recent calls resulted in a series of inspections, including the official closure of a Chapala home rented out for parties issued for second time in four months. Local police were also dispatched to quiet down a daytime party underway at a private home in La Floresta.

There were no new beefs about places singled out in last week’s meetings. However, an Ajijic resident appeared at the Reglamentos office to fill out a complaint format regarding a central Ajijic bar that frequently hosts weekend music gigs that are an annoyance to many neighbors.

Torres provided a clarification concerning English-speaking inspector Juan Vargas who is assigned to the night shift. He may be contacted between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. at 331-228-7366.
