Work on the facility to house a permanent lakeside office for the issuance and renewal of Jalisco driver permits initiated Monday, October 7.
The site is situated behind the headquarters of Chapala’s municipal sanitation department (Aseo Público), on the west side of the parking lot at the far end of Paseo Ramón Corona, opposite the Acapulquito restaurant zone.
The project entails tearing down parts of Aseo Público’s back annex prior to building the new agency. Chapala Mayor Moisés Anaya estimated that work will be completed in about eight weeks, ready for operation by the end of November.
City Hall is providing manpower for the demolition and the construction crew, Anaya said.
Jalisco’s Department of Transport is contributing the building materials and will equip the office.
The adjacent parking lot will be used to hold driving tests required for first-time license applicants.
