Chapala police aim to build trust with local community

Forget 911. Chapala area residents wishing to report crimes and security concerns are encouraged to communicate directly with top officers at the local police department.

pg3Appearing at the second in a series of public meetings on security matters, held Friday, November 29 at Ajijic’s Hotel Real, Chapala Police Commissioner Raúl Valenciano Saucedo gave out his personal cell phone number 618-155-0171 to receive calls from the citizenry. He also provided the cell number for contacting an English-speaking commander at 332-161-5903. The Chapala police headquarters switchboard also operates 24/7 at 376-765-4444.

The meeting was called with short notice as a follow-up to a previous forum aimed at building greater cooperation and trust between local inhabitants and state and local officials. It took place on October 29 at the same venue. The effort will continue at a third encounter scheduled for Friday, December 13, 4 p.m., also at Hotel Real in lower La Floresta.
