Chapala city liaison leads plan to aid expats in distress

For most foreigners, coming to visit or settle in the Lake Chapala area is a positive experience. But troubles can arise.

In the aftermath of several recent incidents, the Chapala municipal government has reached out to the consulates of Canada and United States in Guadalajara for guidance on providing assistance to citizens of those countries who fall into emergency situations.

Since assuming his post in October, 2018, Chapala community liaison for expatriates, Héctor España Ramos, has been called upon to intervene in a dozen cases of foreigners in crisis situations.
