In an effort to mine a hidden treasure, the heads Chapala’s ecology, tourism and culture departments have convened representatives of local tourist boat operators, fishermen, restaurateurs and merchants to launch a joint rescue mission for the Isla de los Alacranes (Scorpion Island).
During a preliminary brain-storming session held Tuesday, January 7, Ecology Director José Jaime Ibañez – point man for the initiative – called on sector leaders to join forces to exploit the island’s potential as a prime tourist attraction.
