How many people reside in Mexico and how do they live? Those are the fundamental question the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) intends to answer by conducting the 2020 Censo de Población y Vivienda.
The door–to-door survey will be carried out nationwide between March 2 and 27 by teams of authorized personnel.
Given the particular make-up of the Lake Chapala area’s population, INEGI has designed informational materials in English and developed special strategies to include foreign resident in the head count.
Wendy Ximena García Vallaseñor, the agency’s communications liaison for the lakeshore zone, is working closely with municipal authorities to carry out that task. Scheduled visits to local gated communities are being arranged in conjunction with condo administrators and homeowner associations.
