Consulate says US visitors should return home

Robin Matthewman, the U.S. Consul General in Guadalajara, is urging all U.S. citizens who normally reside in the United States to arrange for their immediate return, unless, she says, they are “prepared to remain in Mexico for an indefinite period.”

Matthewman said that while commercial flights from Mexico to the United States remain available, many airlines are canceling routes from locations such as Guadalajara, Aguascalientes, Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo.  She also urged U.S. citizens to enroll in the STEP program at STEP.state.gov to receive regular alerts by email. Citizens needing assistance, should call 334-624-2102 or visit https://mx.usembassy.gov.
