“All hands are on deck” at approximately 25 assisted living/“nursing” homes in the Lake Chapala area, reports Wendy Jane Carrel, a lakeside resident and Spanish-speaking senior care specialist and consultant.
Various protocols have been put in place since mid-March, Carrel says. No visitors are allowed until further notice, and staff are doing everything they can to adhere to the guidelines set by Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro.
On her website, http://www.WellnessShepherd.com, Carrel highlights the Restful Assisted Living grounds in San Juan Cosala, where hand washing for all is mandatory, many times a day. Hand sanitizers are placed at all entryways, and on mini-tables outside every room, for doctors, nurses, caregivers, and residents.
