As recent public opinion polls show President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) sinking in popularity ratings, a national movement calling for his resignation appears to be gaining steam.
Sympathizers at lakeside joined the cause, taking part for the first time in the Frena motorcade protests being staged across the nation every other Saturday in hopes of stopping AMLO in his tracks.
Oscar Farias, a retired architect who resides in Ajijic, headed the organization of the local Frente Anti-AMLO (Frena) caravan that rolled out of La Floresta on June 13, taking a spin past Chapala City Hall before looping back to end at the Ajijic Malecón.
The demonstration exceeded his expectations, with more than 75 automobiles turning out to display signs and honk horns to draw attention to beefs about president’s job performance.
