Chapala public venues re-open

The Chapala government announced the re-opening of its malecón zones, plazas and community parks, effective Thursday, June 25.

pg16aPeople entering any of these public venues are required to wear properly fitted face masks and limit themselves to groups of no more than ten individuals.

Checkpoints stationed at highway entries to the municipality have been eliminated, to be replaced by sanitation checkpoints to be located in the vicinity of the waterfront boardwalks.

At the same time, local authorities are pledging to stringently enforce the precautionary measures required for commercial enterprises. The detection of violations will be motivation for the imposition of fines, temporary closures or definitive cancelations of business licenses depending upon the gravity of the offense.

As local Covid-19 cases increased moderately over the past week, Mayor Moisés Anaya recommends that his constituents continue social distancing, use masks in public places and avoid unnecessary outings from home.
