The Chapala government’s Acquisitions Committee has awarded contracts for the initial stages of a major overhaul of the Auditorio de la Ribera, under plans drawn up by Jalisco’s Secretaria de Cultura.
The project entails the construction of a string of modules lining the eastern perimeter of the auditorium property in La Floresta, comprising a storage room, dance and music studios and a coffee shop with an outdoor terrace. It will be funded with a five-million-peso package from the federal Culture Ministry for demolition work, foundations and other groundwork, and an additional eight million pesos from the state cultural agency for construction, electrical and plumbing infrastructure and finishing details.
