Chapala-Ajijic cycle path almost done

Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro hopped on a bicycle Thursday, August 6 for a test ride along the nearly completed eight-kilometer stretch of the cycling path (ciclovía) between Chapala and Ajijic.

pg1bJoining him on the pedaling jaunt were Mayors Moisés Anaya and José Miguel Gómez of Chapala and Jocotepec.

The ride started after Alfaro and the mayors finished an inspection of the reconfiguration of the east-west section of highway bordering Centro Laguna and Walmart at the junction with the Libramiento bypass. The governor took a few minutes to explain assorted highway improvement projects planned for the lakeshore region, boasting of huge investments to come through on his 2018 campaign promises.

He said that the Chapala-Ajijic ciclovía project, now nearly completion, was carried out at a cost of 58.4 million pesos. Collateral improvements included lighting fixtures and reflectors, planters for greenery and trees and new sidewalks and safer crosswalks for pedestrians.
