The bodies of a couple in their mid- to late-60s were discovered early Tuesday, August 18, inside their home in Las Pérgolas, a gated community located on the northeast outskirts of Chapala.
The corpses were apparently found by the couple’s children who had gone to check on their well-being after losing contact with them three days earlier. The woman was discovered completely nude, her spouse partially nude, and both slightly bloodied, leading to some speculation that they may have been victims of foul play. However, according to the Chapala government’s press chief, as there were no overt signs of violence, it is possible that they died from some sort of intoxication.
The cause of death will be determined by an official autopsy.
