Chapala mayor has high expectations for coming year

With a new baby on the way any moment, Chapala Mayor Moisés Anaya is in high spirits as he enters the home stretch of his three-year term of office.

Already struck by steep budget cuts implemented by federal authorities, the local government has come up against unexpected challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. The crux of the matter has been striking a balance between containing the local spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and combating the economic crisis that has hit in its wake.
