Property owner refutes report on Ajijic condo development

As author of the article published in the October 10-16 edition of this newspaper, entitled “Condo development on Ajijic hillside stirs controversy,” I have received a rebuttal from Michael J. Harrison, co-owner of the property in question and spouse of Alma Harrison, the Vista La Montaña project’s registered developer.

pg24Harrison’s six-page missive highlights content of the news report that he qualifies as containing “substantial factual errors that resulted in a misrepresentation of the project and its developer.” In requesting a correction of specific parts of the story, he submitted the following key points, listed verbatim:

• The site-work has been executed only after detail analysis of the soil and in a manner which has assured the stability of the terrain.

• The developer of record is not foreign born. The developer is a Mexican-born, Mexican citizen.

• The developer did not start work on the project prematurely upon “the payment of various government fees.” The work was started in March 2020 only after a duly authorized urbanization permit had been issued. That permit is dated December 10, 2019 and remains valid to this date.

• The developer has not been notified of any potential legal issues, legal complaints or legal motions against the developer.
