The 43rd edition of lakeside’s Mexican National Chili Cookoff will not take place as originally programmed for February 2021.
The organizing committee this week reached the decision to call off the area’s largest charity fundraiser due to the probability it would constitute a Covid-19 superspreader event.
The cancellation will come as a financial blow to the nine worthy organizations that share Cookoff proceeds: Cruz Roja Chapala, Niños Incapacitados del Lago, Centro de Desarrollo Ajijic, Casa de Ancianos Chapala, Niños de Chapala y Ajijic, School for Special Needs Children, Love in Action Center, Lake Chapala Shrine Club and Sunrise Rotary Club.
