Jocotepec mayor suffers Covid-19 relapse

The Jocotepec government posted a Facebook announcement around 6:30 p.m.

pg11cThursday, December 10, to report that Mayor José Miguel Gómez López has suffered a relapse of the Covid-19 infection that caused him to take a two-week temporary leave of absence starting the last week of October.

According to the notice, Gómez was hospitalized for medical treatment Wednesday afternoon with a diagnosis of pneumonia related to re-infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. At last report he was said to be in stable condition while battling his second round of the disease.

His case is probably not yet included in the accumulated count of 200 confirmed Covid cases reported for Jocotepec in the December 10 statistics issued by Jalisco’s Department of Health. Jocotepec’s official death count on the previous day stood at 16.

The mayor’s recent public activities included attendance at the December 3 private celebration of Ajijic’s Pueblo Mágico designation where he was seen wearing a face mask during most of his interactions with dozens of public servants and other guests.
