Members of Ajijic’s Brigada Xupinayatl assisted Chapala firefighters and Civil Protection officers in the December 8 rescue of a hiker who suffered injuries during a trek along the rocky El Tepalo trail.
The volunteer group also aided in the search for several persons who lost their way while hiking in the mountain range three weeks earlier.
Excursionists are advised to notify family or friends before setting off into the hills, go with at least one hiking companion and carry a cell phone to call Civil Protection, at 376-766-5252 or 376-766-36-15, in case of emergency.
